I’ve mentioned time and time again on this blog that I have a number of chronic illnesses. It wasn’t until a doctor told me I needed to cut all chemicals out of my life (skincare, makeup, cleaning products, etc) that I began my deep dive into sustainability. After all, if these chemicals are so bad for me they must not have a great impact on the planet. This is very true.
I firmly believe that we have two homes: our bodies and the planet and that it’s important to take care of both. So I wanted to share with you a few of the products that have become a necessity to my gut health. Since the majority of our immune system is in our guts, it’s so important to take good care of our gut. And as someone who has had gut problems for years (IBS, leaky gut, SIBO, etc.) I realize how important it is.

My favorite gut health products:
1. Eco Modern Essentials Digestive Essential Oil Rollerball
This product is always on me. I keep one by my bed and one in my purse at all times and I honestly use it daily. This is kind of like a “maintenance” tool that I use throughout the day. It’s not totally helpful when I’m having a major flare-up but it is good for daily tune-ups to keep me functioning properly. I justs apply it to my belly, temples and wrists as needed.
2. Orange Naturals Digestive Bitters
After I was done a couple of rounds of some “hardcore medication” as my doctor likes to say, she suggested keeping up with digestive bitters long term. I take about 15 drops 15 minutes before meals and it helps with digestion and keeping bloating at a minimum. It is, as the name suggests, bitter so I take it in a shot of orange juice.
Tea has become an essential part of my day and this Gut Love tea is fantastic. I never really think that “medicinal” teas will taste very good but this one does. Its made with a lot of gut soothing ingredients including dandelion root, milk thistle, licorice root, and peppermint. I like to end my day with this tea.
Another tea that I recently discovered and LOVE! Fennel is amazing for bloat, gassiness and overall digestion. I usually have this in the afternoon since my bloating increases throughout the day and I’ve noticed a difference.
While I don’t drink this daily, I do add it to every recipe that requires broth so I’m consuming it several times a week. Bone broth is known to have powerful gut-healing properties as collagen helps to heal the gut lining. It’s definitely not very tasty so I either season the heck out of it or use it in other recipes where I’m not straight drinking it.
