If you’ve been following me here, on my Instagram or on my Youtube for any amount of time then you’d know that I’ve been exclusively wearing period underwear for the last (almost) 4 years now.
When I first made the switch to period underwear, I went with a huge and notable company called “Thinx”. I was even an ambassador for them for a few years. However, earlier this year I heard reports that their period underwear contained high amounts of PFA’s. Such a high amount that it would be impossible for them not to be aware of it.
They have since denied these claims but have faced several lawsuits over the matter and in good conscience, I could no longer continue to recommend them.
You can read all about that here.
Since then I have tried a few other period underwear brands that do not contain PFAs and wanted to highlight one in particular here: Aisle.

First, what even is period underwear?
Well, it’s exactly as it sounds. Absorbent underwear that collects your period blood. You use it as a reusable alternative to pads or tampons. And it works just like a pad! It absorbs and absorbs and when it’s full, you change it! Just instead of throwing it in the trash, you wash it and use it again.
I only had Thinx to compare it to and I genuinely loved Thinx. The fit was good, the absorbency was great, and there was no smell. Basically, there were no downsides. (Well, except for the chemicals it turns out.)
So I had high expectations when it came to Aisle. So here’s the rundown.
1. They were less bulky and therefore more concealable. While Thinx wasn’t obnoxiously bulky, I did notice a difference between them and regular underwear. With Aisle, they feel exactly like regular underwear!
2. They come with an extra absorbency pad. While the underwear itself is absorbent, it has pockets to slip a liner into for extra absorbency! This is particularly handy when out and about because if it’s full you don’t have to take off your pants just to change! You can simply remove and replace the liner! (Psst! For this, I use a wet bag in my purse to contain any leaks and smells! Then just throw it in the washer when I get home.)
3. They can go in the dryer! While hanging to dry is best to prolong them, they will survive on low in the dryer. Especially in a pinch!
4. No leaks! As period underwear is my primary source of period protection, I use them a lot. As someone with a heavy flow as well, I’ve never had any leaks or odours being a problem. It’s truly amazing.

Consensus:
Period Aisle’s Period underwear is legit. It works. It’s comfortable. And it’s safe for you and the planet.
