The Christmas season moves so quickly. It feels as though the decorations come down as quickly as they go up and just like that, it’s over. I’m tired of feeling like I’ve missed the holiday season and am determined to embrace the season for all it has to offer. Here are a few of the slow living activities I plan to do this year, and you should too!
Slow living Christmas Activities:
1. Bake cookies
Baking cookies, or anything really never fails to put me in the holiday spirit!
2. Take a walk in the city to see the lights
There’s nothing like a city covered in snow and glistening with lights.
3. Go ice skating
Ice skating is something I did every year growing up but I’ve let the habit slip. I’m looking forward to trying it out again!
4. Have a Christmas movie marathon
I can’t even tell you how many times I could watch Elf on repeat. And I plan to do so, just maybe with some other movies too!
5. Make homemade ornaments and decor
I love drying oranges to string up and making salt dough ornaments! This is such a fun thing to do with your family or friends!
6. Make hot chocolate from scratch
Sure store-bought hot chocolate is great, even Starbucks! But have you ever tried making your own? It’ll change your life!
7. Host a game night
I will play games any time of the year. But there’s just something that feels so special about sitting around a table at Christmas time with friends playing board games.
8. Have a gingerbread house decorating contest
I love decorating gingerbread houses and it’s even more fun as a light-hearted contest! This year, I also want to try making my own gingerbread houses from scratch!
9. Donate to your local food bank
Growing up, my family relied on food banks around the holiday seasons. Now that I’m able, I love donating back to help families in my community.
10. Send handwritten notes to loved ones
I just adore getting letters in the mail! Take some time to write to your loved ones, especially those you haven’t seen in a little while.
I hope this list of slow living Christmas activities gives you some ideas and helps you really slow down and embrace this holiday season for all it has to offer.
