Exercising has become such a huge and important thing in my life. It’s one of the many ways I perform self-care.
Growing up I used Walmart’s workout clothes or whatever was cheapest. But I always dreamed about owning a pair of lululemons.
Since switching to ethical fashion, I didn’t feel comfortable wearing or supporting either brand.
Lucky for me, and all your other workout lovers, there are many ethical and sustainable active wear brands out there for all different budgets!

Sustainable Active Wear Brands:
1. Girlfriend Collective – $$-$$$
Girlfriend may be one of the most famous and popular sustainable active wear brands. And for good reason. They are truly trailblazers in the ethical and sustainable fashion scene.
They carry everything you could need for a workout including leggings, sports bras, bike shorts, and crop tops.
Every pair of leggings is made with 25 post-consumer plastic water bottles. That’s right, they’re made of plastic! But you’d never even know by how soft they are.
They also make sizes up to 6XL! Talk about inclusive!
2. Mate the Label – $$
Mate the Label produces ethical and sustainable basics, loungewear AND activewear! They have the cutest sets including sports bras, bike shorts, and leggings!
Their pieces are made from organic cotton using 85.5% less water and 21.8% fewer carbon emissions.
3. Pact – $$
Pact really cares about their im(pact) on the planet and its people. Their clothing is made from organic cotton and made in ethical factories. Their leggings are the softest ever!
4. Everlane – $$-$$$
Everlane is home to my favourite leggings of all time. And on top of that, they have sports bras, bike shorts, and sweats! Their pieces are ethically made using materials like organic cotton and recycled nylon.
5. Wolven threads – $$
Wolven threads creates the most gorgeous activewear using recycled plastic and modal. (A fabric made from Beachwood pulp that’s twice as soft as cotton!)
They have everything from leggings, sports bras, crop tops, bike shorts, and yoga clothes to swimwear!
They also have an impressive men’s line that includes joggers, shorts, board shorts, and t-shirts!
Ps. Use code “ALITTLEROSEDUST” for 20% off your purchase!
All of these brands put people and the planet first. So next time you need to invest in some new activewear, skip the lulu’s and snag something from one of these brands that don’t come with the price of the planet!
Now, I want to add that if Walmart is all you can afford, that is ok. I’ve been there. But I would encourage you to save up and invest in some sustainably made pieces. In the meantime, thrifting is an amazing alternative! Just save this post and come back to it when you’re ready!
